In this article I’ll tell you how to reconfigure the Dynamic Sketch Tool for easier work. We will learn about all the options for this tool and talk about all the effects they have.
To open the Dynamic Sketch Preferences window, double-click on the tool’s toolbox icon or press Enter when already in the tool. Alternatively, select the appropriate item in the fly-out menu of the Dynamic Sketch panel (Window > DrawScribe > Dynamic Sketch panel).
I’ll introduce you to each option and will try to illustrate it. In order to better understand the significance of various features of the Dynamic Sketch Tool, I recommend testing them while reading this article.
Path Creation
Ignore Sketches Shorter Than __ pixels. In the process of fast sketching with the help of the Graphic Tablet the writing tip of the stylus can momentarily leave the working surface of a graphic tablet such as a Wacom. As a result, the line that you create will break, and will have short strokes along its length. These strokes can also be formed as a result of accidental and abrupt stylus touching of the working surface of the tablet. So, with this options, sketch strokes shorter than the specified value will be ignored. That means that you cannot create strokes shorter than the set value.
Keep Selected. Each new path created remains selected when creating the next sketch stroke. This option is enabled by default.
Choosing this option allows you to change the dynamic parameters of the all created paths, but when the ‘Edit and continue existing paths’ mode is on, it is possible to accidentally change the paths that do not require correction.
New Paths Have Basic Appearance overrides the New Art Has Basic Appearance settings of the Appearance panel. This option is enabled by default. Disabling this option allows you to create a new path with all the current appearance, for example, such as the Round Cup and effects.
Close or Join Paths: Always automatically closes all the created paths.
