Fast and Accurate Work with InkScribe Tool in Adobe Illustrator

posted by: Iaroslav Lazunov, in Illustrator Tips / Techniques/ Comments: 0

Today we’ll talk about how using InkScribe allows you to work faster,   smarter, more accurately — in other words, more efficiently.

Ghost Handles

As it was already discussed in Part 1 of this series,   we can easily choose the type of segment to be created; curved (Bezier)   or straight. But now I should say that working with straight segments   in InkScribe has one unique feature — Ghost Handles.

Ghost Handles are handles present on the segments of each point with retracted handles (eg. those associated with straight segments). They allow you to quickly drag them out, thereby converting them to actual Bezier control handles associated with standard curves segments.

Equally, one or both Ghost Handles present on segment are simultaneously converted to standard Bezier handles if that segment is pulled out by click-dragging anywhere along the segment.

This allows us to quickly create a simple or complex curved path by first creating straight segments, and then shaping them by using the Ghost Handles.
