| Gun is example, not actual design.
I need to overlay a flag on a gun. The gun was created out of a trace. The outlines were
removed, and left with shapes that make gun. I can't use opacity mask, because I will
be exporting to .eps and uploading to teespring.com
When you export using opacity mask you have raster balance. Even using all vector
retains a white background. Preserving transparency still causes issues.
It needs to be ALL vector.
The image attached shows the gun, off to the right, so you can see it has the shapes
that make the gun. When the gun is put over a shirt, the shirt color shows through,
making the outlines of the gun. On the left is what it looks like when on a black shirt.
Now, I can use divide, then ungroup, but I would have to select all of the pieces that
do not below, in order to get the shape of the gun back. You can see I have one piece
selected that belongs to the spinning barrel of the gun that holds the bullets.
I would have to go thorough, find and delete all those parts, to create the holes in the design
that make the ouline of the gun.

I am still stumped on how to do this. My design is quite large and intricate.
The flag will go over the design that has many white parts like the gun in the example.
It would be impossible to use Divide, and go through and find all the pieces to delete.
There has to be an easier way to do this.
What am I missing?

| KrisHunt is right - clipping mask
or you can use Shape Builder Tool + Option to remove extra parts of the flag (before this select a gun and flag).

| It works, but the eps file goes from 8MB to 23MB
I have to select full vector in the raster/vector balance.
Teespring.com requires .eps for vector art.
10MB file limit.

| Solution I used.Export .png from IllustratorUse Vector MagicExport .epsDONE!However,not the bestest quality of trace, even in Illustrator.
So, while brainstorming, I believe I have a better method.
Will test and report back.Deals with using a black background same size as document.Using original skull to cut through leaving the black.Edit>Cut the black(which is a cutout template of everything that should be transparent.) now in clipboardLay flag over skullDivideNow, paste black on top of everything, use it to punch a hole through everything.
Basically using the black as a cookie cutter to remove the needed pieces from the first Divide function.If this works, I am a freaking genius. Just saying.
