| I need help…all my google searches left me desperate.
What I am doing is creating a stencil to be laser cut.
Using CS5 Illustrator, RGB red cutting line is 255,0,0, line weight is 0.0123
1) drawing 1-3 objects (simple outline) with the pen tool
2) creating pattern brush with each object
3) using the geometric shapes (ellipse, rectangle, etc)
4) applying my pattern brush onto my shapes
5) save a version before expanding
My outline view does not show the brushes yet, just the shapes
6) expand appearance
7) expand
Now I see the pattern in the outline view
I zoom in to the max. and it seems fine. But the laser cutter says there are two lines.
Which now after zooming in on the outline view I might be able to see it in certain areas.
Where have I gone wrong? Is it outlining my strokes? How can I keep it the way before I expand it but have all my patterns show in the outline view (which is what the laser cutter sees)? I need one simple line that the laser can read as a cutting line.
I added two files. 1) is expanded, 2) is not expanded

| My files were too big but I had to divide the pattern for the laser cutter. Here is one of the files. it's expanded appearance and expanded.

| EH, Could you send me your files? (lazun@i.ua)
But I think that they contain no stroke and no fill paths. To check this you can create such path. Then select it and go to Select> Same> Stroke Color. If such paths exist, you have to remove them.

| EH,
Yes, after applying Eхpand or Outline stroke commands objects are fill paths. This means that they have two paths (compound paths)
After Expand Appearance comand you'll get stroke paths (one path)
So you should use Expand Appearance only.
