Today you will learn how to generate realistic vector gold glitter texture using a total of 12 squares and three options of the Symbol Stipplism effect. From this texture we will then create a seamless pattern that can be used as a fill in your future projects. So let’s get stipple texturing!

Step 1

Create 12 squares and fill them with different shades of yellow color from light to dark tones.

Save any of the squares as a new symbol in the Symbols panel.

Step 2

With the help of Stipplism, we can create a lot of variations of this symbol. This will be necessary in the future to create the texture. Select the remaining squares, then go to Object> Create Symbol Variants…, choose from the drop down list of the base symbol — “square” in my case, and click OK in the dialog box.

As you can see, the first symbol got 11 variants appeared in the Symbols panel.

Step 3

Now create a rectangle with a fill of any color, we will create a gold glitter texture with the help of the Stipplism based on this.

Select the object, then go to Effect> Stipplism> Symbol Stipple…. In the dialog box choose the name of the symbol from the list, tick Include Variants and preview options. The object is filled with colored squares that match the symbol and its 11 variants. Now we can proceed to the selection of parameters.
