In this lesson we will look at features of the application Width Stamp Tool to raster and vector objects to create a fairly complex illustration in the engraving style. You will also learn how to use a custom hatching and Width Stamp presets. Now to create engraving you just need to have WidthScribe2. Step 1
I will use a bunch of grapes photo from Shutterstock as a reference image. Place raster image in Adobe Illustrator (File> Place …)
Take the Ellipse Tool (L) and create the shape of an ellipse which corresponds to the shape of one of the grapes. Choose bright green color for the fill, set the stroke width equal to 1px and pick dark green color for it.
Now create another ellipse with the same properties, but of a smaller size. Place this circle slightly below the center of the first circle.
Step 2
Select both circles and go to Object > Blend > Make (Option / Alt + Cmd / Ctrl + B). Double click on the Blend Tool (W) icon in the Tools panel and set Specified Distance = 4px in the Blend Options dialog box.
Now go to Object > Blend > Expand.
Similarly create vector objects for all the berries, keeping their location between each other.
Select and group up all the vector objects (Cmd / Ctrl + G).
