Today we introduce you a new useful script for Adobe Illustrator which was made by Alex Sheingart. This script was designed to perform mirror reflection of object(s) relatively to the selected object(s) and the chosen coordinates.
You can download Flip script by clicking the Download button on this page.
This script was tested in Adobe Illustrator CS5 - CS6 in Windows and Mac
Unzip archive and install the scripts into the following folder, for example:
For Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Presets\en_GB\Scripts
For Mac: Applications / Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Presets\en_GB\Scripts
Now to run the script, go to Object > Script > Flip. Tool box of Flip.jsx consists of six buttons and a field for determining coordinates of the reflection. The buttons from left to right do the following operations: - Vertical mirror reflection
- Vertical mirror reflection with object duplication
- Horizontal mirror reflection
- Horizontal mirror reflection with object duplication
- Diagonal mirror reflection
- Diagonal mirror reflection with object duplication
In the coordinates field pick the reference point according to which a mirror reflection will be created. If the reference point of the object is not selected, the reflection will not be created.
Now let's see how the script works. Select the object according to which the reflection will be created In the coordinates field choose a point according to which the reflection will be created Select the object that should be reflected Click on the button corresponding to the desired type of reflection, for instance such as "Horizontal mirror reflection with object duplication" In case the object according to which mirror reflection is being done is not chosen, and the reference point of the object is being selected, instead of the numbers X and Y symbols NaN are shown. The picture below shows the points of the object according to which reflection can be created. The position of these points does not depend on the position of the bounding box
