The Adobe Exchange panel for CS6. The new way to discover and install plug-ins, extensions, and other content for Creative Suite products. As a user, you can see the ratings and read reviews written by others who have acquired a product through Adobe Exchange. You can also rate and review products you have acquired.
To get started with the Adobe Exchange panel, you must have one of the supported Creative Suite 6 applications installed: - Dreamweaver®
- Fireworks®
- Flash® Pro
- Illustrator®
- InCopy®
- InDesign®
- Photoshop®
- Prelude™
- Premiere® Pro
You must also have Adobe Extension Manager CS6, version 6.1 installed. Extension Manager is part of the CS6 application installation. Producers can provide a free trial version in addition to a paid version of their product. When you have acquired a trial version and a paid version is available, you see an additional button in your ‘My Stuff’ view that takes you to the Product Info page, where you can purchase the paid version.
A producer can provide a patch version for a published product, with new features or bug fixes. Users who have already downloaded the product see an Update button in the ‘My Stuff’ view.
The Adobe Exchange in-app panel itself can also download its own updates and install them itself, as new functionality is released.
In addition to a panel, Adobe Exchange includes a producer portal where you can upload your extensions, plugins, templates, actions, brushes, swatches, styles, fonts and any other content that can enhance the functionality of the Creative Suite applications.
Adobe Exchange plans to use a third-party payment vendor, FastSpring for all financial transactions. The revenue share model for Producers (also commonly known as developers or partners) is:There are two options for participating as a producer of Adobe Exchange content: you can use the free version that lets you submit up to 10 free products, or you can sign up to be a Commercial Producer, which allows you to provide paid and trial versions of your product (in addition to free products) and lets you make unlimited submissions.
Paid Content must have a certified signature.
Extension Manager should be able to verify the Producer’s signature. An application should be signed by a certificate issued by one of the following certificate authorities:
- Chosen Security Thawte
- Globalsign
- Verisign
- Comodo
- Usertrust
- Godaddy
Content posted as Free will be accepted with a self-signed certificate.
Out of the price paid by the customer, FastSpring will take a $0.65 flat fee per transaction plus 4.95% of the gross transaction amount. The remainder is split 75% to the Producer and 25% to Adobe. The minimum price for paid products is $5
Example: $10 dollar selling price, FastSpring gets $1.15 [($10 * 0.0495) + 0.65], Adobe gets $2.21 [(10 — 1.15) * 0.25], Producer gets $6.64 [(10 — 1.15) * 0.75]
