Adobe Illustrator Tutorial: How to Quickly Find Raster Images and Effects in Vector Files

posted by: Iaroslav Lazunov, in Illustrator Tips / Techniques/ Comments: 1

You probably know that such sites as Shutterstock or Istockphoto do not accept vector works that have raster images or objects to which the   raster effects have been applied. Today I'll tell you how to quickly   find the raster images and effects in the vector file for replace or   remove them.

Let’s take my artwork Gift Card as an example

To start, unlock all the objects (Object > Unlock All).To see all the raster objects open Links panel (Window> Links). We see that there is one raster object in this artwork (texture4.png)

For quick detection of raster effects select all the objects. Go to Select> All or press the shortcuts Cmd / Ctrl + A. Then go to Object > Expand Appearance. The raster effects applied in this artwork will rasterize, so we can see them in the Links panel.

To select an object to which the raster effect has been applied select Go to Link in fly-out menu of the Links panel
