In todays article you will learn how to use a flexible contour control in the Stylism plug-in to achieve the levels of subtlety direct in vector art. I’m hoping that you have already experienced using this (if not, download a 14 day free trial now!)

Take a look at the ability to apply the Contour Control feature on the example of Abstract Crystal artwork, which consists of regular paths with gradient fill and Flare object. You can learn how to create a similar illustration from the tutorial How to Create the Star of Africa Diamond Using Adobe Illustrator and Astute Graphics’ plugins.

Select the large crystal group and apply the Drop Shadow effect to it with the help of Stylism plug-in. To do this, click on the Drop Shadow Live Effect button in the Stylism panel (Window> Stylism> Stylism panel).

Annotation system appears above the selected group, which allows us to set all the necessary parameters of the applied effect such as Color, Blending mode, Blur radius, Opacity and Offset values.

Due to the selected color (Blue) and Blending mode (Luminosity) the drop shadow from the crystal looks like a glow.
