In today’s lesson we will look at the techniques of creating a futuristic interface. This interface theme is very popular in graphic design nowadays, and it is very easy and comfortable to create it using the Dynamic Shapes Tool found in VectorScribe plug-in.
Step 1
To begin creating our futuristic user interface, create a new document (File> New …). Set the size of the artboard — 600x600px. The interface we’re creating will work well in the RGB color mode
Step 2
Proceed to the creation of the background. Draw a rectangle which sizes correspond to the size of the artboard, and fill it with a dark blue color.
Now create a gray hexagon using Dynamic Shapes Tool (VectorScribe plug-in) and its panel (Window> VectorScribe> Dynamic Shapes). Using dynamic shapes gives us an opportunity later to rapidly change the texture of the background, if there is such a need.
Save a dynamic hexagon as a new symbol in the Symbols panel.
Step 3
Duplicate the rectangle (Cmd / Ctrl + C, Cmd / Ctrl + F) and fill the copy with a new dark blue shade.
To create a texture we will use the Phantasm plug-in. Select the upper rectangle and hexagon symbol in Symbols panel, then go to Effect> Phantasm> Halftone…. Options and parameters that I selected are shown in the picture below. Note that Current Symbol preset is chosen in the Dot Properties section.
